ISO 17025 is essentially equivalent to ISO 9001 for calibration and testing laboratories. It was first published in 1999, replacing a previous document known as ISO Guide 25. The standard comprises of two principle sections Management Requirements and Technical Requirements, the former aligning broadly with ISO 9001.
The current version was published. This contains a number of new requirements. Accredited laboratories have a two year window to meet the new demands.
ISO 17025 covers issues such as: staff (technical competence and ethical behaviour), participation in proficiency testing and the use of properly defined test/calibration procedures.
